From the percussive energy of Reich, Vivaldi and Kate Bush to a musical journey through the British Isles, from Ravel, Debussy and soul to a summer finale of Max Richter and Tchaikovsky, this is a season full of colour, contrast and discovery.
Percussive Power with Dame Evelyn Glennie (percussion) opens the season with a programme pulsing with rhythm, movement and imagination, where reimagined Vivaldi, Steve Reich’s Different Trains and Kate Bush sit alongside music by Glennie herself.
A British Isles Fantasia with Guy Johnston (cello) and Dame Sheila Hancock (speaker) join us for a musical journey through the British Isles, bringing together folk song, classical music and storytelling. From Dowland, Elgar and James MacMillan to Sandy Denny, George Harrison, Enya and traditional jigs.
French Connections with Jeneba Kanneh-Mason (piano) performs Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major as part of a programme of French colour, jazz-inflected brilliance and soulful reinvention, where Ravel, Debussy and Satie meet Aretha Franklin and Margaret Bonds.
And Summer Sounds with Elena Urioste (violin) brings the season to a close with Max Richter’s bold reimagining of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons and Tchaikovsky’s beloved Serenade for Strings, a vivid summer evening of warmth, colour and emotional sweep.
