Principal players of Fantasia Orchestra, known for their fearless cross-genre music-making, join award-winning pianist and arranger Harry Baker for an intimate programme that moves freely between classical music, jazz and tango.

With piano and string quartet at its heart, the evening features Harry Baker's new arrangements of Piazzolla's Libertango, a suite of Gershwin songs and Bernstein's Somewhere from West Side Story, alongside George Walker's richly expressive String Quartet No. 1 "Lyric" and Shostakovich's powerful Piano Quintet in G minor.

A pianist equally at home in jazz clubs and concert halls, Baker has performed with artists including Jamie Cullum, Sheku Kanneh-Mason and Fatma Said, while his arrangements have been commissioned by the BBC Proms, Aurora Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra and The King's Singers.

Founded in 2016, Fantasia Orchestra has quickly established itself as one of the UK's most distinctive ensembles, earning acclaim for imaginative programming that places classical repertoire alongside jazz, folk and contemporary music. Led by violinist Millie Ashton, the orchestra's principal players bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to the intimate surroundings of Upstairs at Ronnie's.
