Britten Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings
Join Fantasia for our first concert following our debut at the BBC Proms! Musical giants of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries come together for a programme that explores diverse styles and genres.
From meditative Pärt and smooth Duke Ellington to virtuosic Ligeti and trailblazing Alberga, come for an exciting evening of music that features Fantasia's strings and percussion.
Star horn player Ben Goldscheider and tenor Toby Spence join us to perform in Britten's iconic Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings, a beautiful work that will soar through the gothic church of St Gabriel's Pimlico.
Nominated by the Barbican as an ECHO Rising Star for the 2021/22 season, Ben Goldscheider has given recitals at major concert halls across Europe including at the Concertgebouw, Musikverein, Pierre Boulez Saal, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Köln Philharmonie and Wigmore Hall, amongst others.
Toby Spence has sung at the Royal Opera House, The Metropolitan Opera, Wiener Staatsoper, Opéra national de Paris, Bayerische Staatsoper, English National Opera, Teatro Real, Madrid, the Liceu, Barcelona, San Francisco Opera, Theater an der Wien, and the Hamburgische Staatsoper, as well as at the Salzburg, Aix-en-Provence and Edinburgh festivals.
